The ICRC's Somalia Delegation in Nairobi implements the institution's humanitarian activities in Somalia. The ICRC Somalia delegation in Nairobi is seeking for an experienced and motivated person to fill the position of:
ECONOMIC SECURITY (ECOSEC) FIELD ASSISTANT - KISMAYO
The EcoSec Field Assistant (Somalia based Resident/National position) is responsible for assisting the EcoSec Field Officer in the implementation of the EcoSec program in Lower Juba. S/he is able to carry out the following roles:
Main Responsibilities:
Participates in the needs assessments linked to the economic/food security situation of the target population;
Ensures adequate supervision of the beneficiary registration, delivery of EcoSec assistance and monitoring concerning the beneficiaries of the Stabilization Centre in Kismayo;
Maintains close coordination with the Health staff involved in the program linked to the Stabilization Centre;
Participates in other EcoSec activities/interventions in Kismayo town/Lower Juba as per the priorities;
Ensures appropriate data collection within the assessment, distribution and monitoring activities;
Ensures that the assigned activities are carried out in line with the set objectives;
Assists in establishing and maintaining regular information exchange with the SRCS volunteers and staff;
Maintains regular exchange and good atmosphere with the relevant local authorities, communities and other humanitarian actors;
Contributes to the assessment/distribution/monitoring reports;
Compiles statistical data on the interventions and submits monthly statistical reports;
Knows, applies and complies with all the administrative procedures linked to his work;
Provides the technical support/coaching to the SRCS volunteers, when required;
Interprets oral conversations and translates documents from English to Somali language and vice versa;
Maintains regular contacts with SRCS chapters and with other interlocutors;
Contributes and shares analysis of the security, socio-economic, cultural and political environment;
Reports events and changes that could impact on EcoSec and/or ICRC's activities; and
Acts as reference point for Economic Security activities in the absence of the EcoSec Field Officer.
Minimum Requirements:
A minimum Diploma in Agriculture, Economics, Development Studies, Sociology, Animal Production, Veterinary Science or related fields;
At least 3 year work experience in a similar field;
Fluent in written and spoken English and Somali;
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite;
Excellent analytical skills and communication skills; and
Good knowledge of geographically assigned areas.
