Mexico: REGIONAL HEALTH COORDINATOR

The Regional Delegation of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) to Mexico, Central America and Cuba is looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional to perform the following activities:

• Coordinates the different health programs and projects in the region, in close collaboration with the other ICRC departments and the head of missions in terms of: Wounded & Sick, Physical Rehabilitation, Migration, Mental health and Psychosocial support, Health care in danger, Detention and Preventive activities
• Supports the health team members in the planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of the programs
• Establishes, maintains, and improves active and regular working relationships and takes the lead role in representing the principles and work of the ICRC to representatives of other organizations (UN, INGOs, Civil Society, counter-parts, donors, government authorities etc.)
• Works at policy level with high-level decision makers, participating in strategy development, policy making and technical discussions, as well as negotiating to determine priorities for development
• Conducts regular field visits to coach and support key staff at field level to achieve measurable program impact
• Identifies capacity gaps and arranges for appropriate training of Project Team staff to adequately develop skills and knowledge required to accomplish their responsibilities
• Presents clear and convincing reports as needed on health topics at workshops, meetings and other venues that demonstrate sound analysis and synthesis

Required profile:

• Medical Doctor (MD), Public Health studies an asset
• Substantial experience at international level in technical support and/or program management. Minimum 6 years in a similar position
• Direct experience of planning, implementing and measuring the impact of health related programs
• Working experience in Latin America an advantage
• Ability to speak and write clear English and Spanish succinctly as a primary working language
• Inter-personal skills to influence and guide Field and other managers in identifying programming opportunities and resolving program challenges
• Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
• Credibility to represent the organization to authorities and actively participate in the different Health fora’s
• Willingness to work and travel in often difficult environments
• Position based in Mexico D.F.
