The Weapon Contamination (WeC) Unit within the ICRC has the competence and capacity to evaluate the consequences of contamination with weapons and CBRN hazards on civilian populations and design suitable mitigation measures. In order to reach this objective and efficiently reduce the effects of the above mentioned hazard to the civilian population, the unit developed recently a framework aiming to ensure safety for the ICRC staff and partners, and support the continuity of the humanitarian operations through a transversal scope of action driven by a risk management approach.

The post holder will also keep on updating the units' information management tool, and ensures that all new recruited members are trained on the Hazard identification and risk management tool.
The post holder receives technical guidance from experienced staff of the Unit including from the field for different thematic and operational topics. S/he benefits from an opportunity to acquire both practical and theoretical knowledge in risk management-related matters.
