The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a neutral and independent humanitarian organization, has a vacancy at its Mission in Athens for a resident position**:**
Adviser to the Head of Mission (M/F)
She/He assists the Head of Mission (HoM) in the understanding of overall politico-economic-social situation in Greece in particular and in the geopolitical region important for Greece in general as to support ICRC’s positioning in Greece. S/he contributes to the analysis of the evolving migration situation and the overall humanitarian situation in the country. In close collaboration with HOM, leads the networking strategy development and its implementation in efforts to furtherance of ICRC's mandate and acceptance by the main stakeholders in Greece.
General Overview
Supports the Mission to develop a networking strategy that allows the long term positioning of ICRC in Greece and guides the overall implementation of the strategy, in close collaboration with the HOM
In coordination with the Head of Mission, represents the ICRC with all the relevant stakeholders.
Contributes to the ongoing analysis of the overall politico-economic-social situation in Greece; and in the geostrategically important regional context for Greece
Advises the management on best approaches/strategies (and pitfalls) related to the implementation of ICRC’s annual strategy and related program plans. With the management, contributes to define solutions and if needed facilitates contacts or represents the ICRC towards relevant stakeholders to overcome implementation problems.
Ideal profile
University degree
A minimum of 10-15 years’ work experience in a similar function (governmental bodies, public institutions, international organizations, etc.)
Fluent in Greek and English, other languages an asset
Previous experience in dealing with migration/humanitarian related issues an asset
Very good, and confirmed analytical and writing skills
Very good networking capacities
Excellent interpersonal, communication, diplomacy and organizational skills
Ability to work in a team in a multicultural environment
This is a resident position which salary is based on the Greece salary scale of the ICRC Mission
