Purpose of the post:
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Trainee in charge of Logistics Manual update. The position will be based in Geneva, Switzerland.
The successful applicant will carry out the assessment of the gaps in the current Logistics Field Manual and coordinate the update of its contents, under the supervision of the Logistics Learning Programme Manager, ensuring the coherence with the existing procedures, best practices, the new ERP system processes, harmonized terminologies, and other standards for the ICRC Logistics Division.
Key Job Responsibilities:
The Trainee in charge of Logistics Manual update will perform the following functions:
· Review background documents as well as familiarize with the current Logistics Field Manual, and its supplementary materials.
· Establish and coordinate a working group (or use the existing one if such is in place already), that will facilitate the process of updating the Logistics Manual.
· Translate the general ICRC Logistics concepts into content for the respective sections of the new Logistics Manual, and when necessary conduct the cross-reference that the knowledge included is up-to-date with industry standards and innovations.
· Maintaining a clear plan of action for the update of the Logistics Manual.
· Pro-actively coordinate all the activities constituting the development process of the updated Logistics Manual, and when required conduct a timely follow-up, to ensure the deliverables are submitted within the time-frame.
· Map-out the contents of the current manual, and the already updated sections.
· Conduct the assessment of the content gaps, using the approved approaches.
· Ensure that those activities are aligned with the Logistics Learning Programme Strategy.
· Contribute to the research and development of the content for the Logistics Manual, in relation to the general concepts and those procedures excluding the ones linked with the OSCAR ERP system.
· Research and coordinate the development of harmonized and standardized Logistics Glossary of Definitions.
· In coordination with ICRC IM team, research and coordinate the development of the Manual’s future web based platform and architecture.
· Design a validation mechanism and approval process to objectively and dynamically accommodate the requests for change to the scope or content of the Logistics Manual, or any of its components.
· Ensure that the individual deliverables are validated as per the predefined and approved mechanisms.
Eligibility Criteria:
· At least a master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or other relevant field.
· Excellent analytical, research, synthesis and IT skills.
· Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and with colleagues at a distance.
· Passion for supply chain management and constant process improvement.
· Team player with , strong organisational and communication skills
· Able to make informed decisions based on facts and figures.
· Results-oriented, persuasive and adaptive to change.
· Excellent written and spoken communication skills: English and French required.
· Prior experience working in academic research in humanitarian/supply-chain practices or coordination and development of supply-chain related materials or tools is a strong asset.
