Your role

As a Finance & Administration Manager in the field, you oversee all financial resources and administrative aspects of the country organization. As its "administrative backbone", you play a vital role in running the office in an efficient manner, contributing to the smooth implementation of ICRC's humanitarian operations.

Your task

Financial Controlling

  • You are accountable for the integrity of the financial and analytical accounting and reporting in the field, which includes the supervision of the account department, the preparation of the annual budget / monthly forecast and risk reporting
  • This entails a permanent assessment of the financial situation (including treasury) of the country organization – you are expected to act as advisor on all financial / economic affairs for the humanitarian project teams ( i.e.Efficiency of spend, cost-control and analysis of budget deviations, project controlling; Contingency measures needed to respond to critical changes in the operating context; Finance training & coaching of department coordinators & management team members)
  • You tailor institutional guidelines and policies to the local context, and ensures / controls strict implementation / adherence of the same, with the purpose to assure compliance with ethical standards, and mitigation of financial risk
  • You act as co-signatory and finance interface for both authorities and commercial parties (suppliers, banks etc.)
  • As the internal focal point for finance-related compliance matters, you are expected to steer the implementation / alignment of all activities related to ICRC's Compliance program in the country

Human Resources

  • In certain countries and on sub-office level, the F&A Manager acts as HR- responsible for staff members under local contract, carrying out specific activities along the HR-cycle

Office Management

  • You oversee the financial and day-to-day-management of offices & operational premises, maintain an adequate security setup, and ensure safe & secure accommodation of all mobile staff members
  • You also supervise the internal travel desk, in charge of all international travel arrangements (flights / visa / accommodation & pickup) in the country delegation

Selection requirements

  • Ideal age: 26 to 45
  • Very good command of English and French. Fluency in another ICRC working language used in the field such as Spanish, Arabic or Russian is a distinct asset.
  • You hold a University degree in Business Administration, Finance/Accounting or HR
  • You bring along at least two years of confirmed experience in Finance, Management or HR, including at least one year in Financial controlling or accounting
  • You have worked abroad or in an international environment
  • You have strong analytical & quantitative skills to dedicate to a humanitarian, nonprofit organization
  • You have a strong command of IT Office Tools
  • You are prepared to accept unaccompanied postings (i.e. no spouse, partner, children or dependents) for the first two missions (minimum 12 months each)
  • You are in possession of a valid driving license for manual transmission vehicles and practical experience
